CHATTANOOGA --- The fourth-seeded Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team downed fifth-seeded Wofford 4-2 in the 2022 Southern Conference Championship quarterfinal round on Thursday afternoon at Champions Club in Chattanooga to advance to tomorrow's semifinal round.
 
Following the win, Chattanooga improves to 14-8 on the season and advances tomorrow to face top-seeded and 36^th ranked Furman at 10 a.m. ET. Wofford ends the season with a 9-10 overall record.
 
"It was a great team effort today. It was college tennis at its best," said head coach Chad Camper following the match.
 
Chattanooga earned the doubles point in thrilling fashion as the tandem of Callie Billman and Coco Bosman clinched it behind a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5) tie-breaking win in the No. 3 hole. Emma Van Hee and Nicole Abel continued their winning ways in doubles action with a 6-3 decision at No. 2.
 
In singles, UTC succumbed matches at the top two spots while seeing a pair of victories sandwiched in between at the No. 3 and No. 6 pairings. Bosman battled her way to a 6-1, 7-5 victory in the final spot while Caroline Gibbens posted a consistent 6-4, 6-4 decision at the three spot.
 
With the Mocs carrying a 3-2 lead and looking for the deciding point, it was Billman who provided the spark and game-winner. After winning the first set 6-4, Billman grinded her way to a 7-6 (7-4) winner in the second to give UTC the clinching fourth tally.
 
"Callie Billman and Coco Bosman really stepped up huge in doubles and singles today," added Camper.
