ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
GREENSBORO, Ga.---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team got the Southern Conference Championships started with a 3-over 291 on the Oconee Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee. That puts the squad in sixth place after 18 holes.
Paul Conroy led the way with a 3-under 69. He recorded five birdies which was one of the tourney high for the day. He's tied for fourth overall, two off the pace set by ETSU's Ben Carberry in the lead with 67.
Braedon Wear added 71.
Alex Cobb's 74 and
Leon Bader's 77 rounded out the team's total.
Connor Nolan had the drop with 80.
"Paul and Braedon really got off to good starts," Interim Coach
Miles Moseley stated. "They're both in good positions heading into the second round. Alex played well down the stretch to salvage a good score. We need to minimize the mistakes over the next two days. That will make a big difference."
The Mocs are three behind Mercer in fifth with 288. They're four ahead of Wofford with 295 and 11 clear of Samford in eighth at 302. ETSU has the lead with 275, five ahead of UNC Greensboro's 280.
Chattanooga is paired with Mercer for round two. They start at 8 a.m., on the 10th tee led by Nolan. He's followed by Bader (8:10), Cobb (8:20), Wear (8:30) and Conroy (8:40). Live scoring and pairings are linked above along with a detailed results package.
