Men’s Basketball Adds Houston Baptist Transfer Khristion Courseault

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball picked up another transfer as the team nears the completion of next year’s roster.

CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team and head coach Dan Earl have announced another addition to the upcoming 2022-23 roster, this time landing Houston Baptist transfer guard Khristion Courseault as the program formally announced on Friday morning.

Courseault most recently completed his junior season with HBU and will carry two years of remaining eligibility with the Mocs. He will be immediately eligible for the 2022-23 season.

"As an experienced guard that has competed at the Division I level, we are very excited to add Khristion to our Mocs program," Earl stated.

"He is fast with the ball, has size for the guard position and has a knack for being able to score. He is also a very good on ball defender with the ability to get deflections and steals on the defensive end."

Courseault was one of three Huskies to appear in all 29 games last season while making eight starts and averaging 23.6 minutes per contest. He finished third on the team with a 9.5 points-per-game average and also chipped in with 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists, ending the year shooting 37.3% from the field in total.

The 6-2 guard from Los Angeles, Calif., posted 13 double-digit scoring performances during the 2021-22 campaign including six-straight to end the year. In those six games, Courseault averaged 18.1 points on 42.0% (37-of-88) shooting from the floor while posting 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

In a wild 149-144 overtime win over McNeese on March 5, Courseault scored a career-high 30 points in addition to posting six rebounds and seven assists. It marked his second 20+ point performance of the season after registering 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting against Southeastern Louisiana on February 12.

Courseault transferred to Houston Baptist ahead of the 2021-22 season after spending two seasons at Nevada. He redshirted for the Wolfpack in 2019-20 before appearing in nine games and averaging 3.3 minutes per game as a sophomore in 2020-21. Courseault played his freshman season at Pasadena City College in 2018-19 and averaged 11 points, 3.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game in 22 games played.
