CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team returns home for a three-game home stand beginning Thursday, Sept. 1 against Tennessee Tech.

CHATTANOOGA vs. TENNESSEE TECH
The Mocs lead the series against Tennessee Tech 13-6-1 dating back to 1997. In Chattanooga, UTC is 7-3 but has fallen in the last two home matches. The two programs reinstated the regular season matchups last season on the road in Cookeville where the Mocs won 1-0.

ABOUT CHATTANOOGA
Chattanooga is 1-2-1 overall and went unbeaten last week in a pair of road matches. After earning a 1-1 draw late in the match at Georgia State, the Mocs came away with a 3-0 victory at Austin Peay with goals from three different scorers. UTC's defense allowed five shots and just one shot on goal.
Mackenzie Smith and
Clarissa Salinas lead the team with three points. The Mocs have five different goal scorers and four with an assist each. Carolina Ekern, in three games, has seven saves and one shutout.
Abbey Saddler has four saves over two matches. The Mocs' defense has only allowed nine shots per game compared to UTC's 11.15 an outing.

ABOUT TENNESSEE TECH
The Golden Eagles are 1-2-1 overall with a 4-1 win over SoCon foe Furman and a 1-1 draw at Western Kentucky last week. Chloe Smith leads Tennessee Tech with five points on two goals and one assist. Three more have one goal while Yao Zhou Giada leads TTU with three assists. Maggie Conrad has started all four matches in the net and has 13 saves with six goals against.

MACKENZIE SMITH NAMED TSWA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior
Mackenzie Smith was named the Women's Soccer Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association following the Mocs 1-0-1 record in the second week. She assisted on the Mocs second goal in a 3-0 win at Austin Peay and then scored the final goal.

The Mocs got scoring from three different players in a 3-0 win at Austin Peay.
Birna Johannsdottir scored her first goal since transferring to UTC.

FRESHMEN ON GAME-TYING GOAL
Caroline Richvalsky's shot late in the game at Georgia State may not have found its intended target, but it led to a goal by classmate
Clarissa Salinas who was there to pick up the deflection. The goal was the first of Salinas' collegiate career and tied the match for UTC.

EKERN EARNS STARTING SPOT IN GOAL
Freshman
Caroline Ekern entered the Mocs match against Eastern Kentucky in the first half and pulled in four saves in 65 minutes in her collegiate debut. That led to her making her first start as a Moc at Georgia State. She played the full 90 and made two saves while giving up one goal.

Maggie Shaw was named to the USLW League National Team of the Year - Second Team for her play with the Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves.
