The 2021 squad became the first in the rivalry to retain the Rail.

The Chattanooga Mocs look to retain its prize with the Rail Rivalry on tap Saturday at ETSU.

THURSDAY'S GAME | SCHEDULE | TICKETS

CHATTANOOGA---The 10th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs and ETSU Bucs get reacquainted this week in what is now dubbed the "Rail Rivalry". The Rail, dubbed the most prestigious railroad tie in sports, goes to the winner and has lavishly resided in McKenzie Arena since October 17, 2019.

The winner also gets a much-needed boost in the Southern Conference standings. A Chattanooga triumph keeps the squad atop the league ledger with early co-leaders Mercer (at Wofford), Furman (Samford) and Samford (at Furman) in play Saturday afternoon. The Bucs look to bounce back from an 0-2 start and work to get back into the race.

Chattanooga is coming off a 31-0 loss at Illinois. ETSU brought home a 45-3 win at Robert Morris. Both teams bring similar attributes wanting to run the ball, control the clock and play stifling defense.

"It's the next one," Coach Rusty Wright began. "The most important game on your schedule is the next one. That's how it works. I'm sure this one's special for the fans, but we can't look at any differently. They're 0-2 in the league and don't want a third one, so we're going to get their best shot Saturday.

"However it happens, we need to go out, play well and give ourselves a chance to win a ballgame."

Coach Wright joins "Voice of the Mocs" Jim Reynolds on Chat with the Mocs tonight at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux on Broad Street in Chattanooga's Aquarium District. It can be listened to from 7-8 p.m., on 96.1 FM/1070 AM in the Scenic City area or access it online here.

Junior defensive end Ben Brewton joins them as well. He is tied for the league in sacks (3.5) with teammate Devonnsha Maxwell and Western Carolina's Chris Morgan.
