CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs put together a strong performance in a 39-3 win over visiting Davidson Saturday night in Maclellan Gym. The Mocs won nine of 10 matches with two pins and a tech fall highlighting the scoring.
Â
"Our guys are getting better," Coach Kyle Ruschell shared afterwards. "We're not where we need to be, but we will be come March. We need to go out there with confidence, not build it throughout the match. It's the details, and we need continue to do the hard things. We didn't mat return enough. We didn't stay gritty on top enough. I'm seeing things start to show, but those types of things, we have to get better at if you want to reach our goals."
Â
The Mocs hit the road for three in a row starting Friday at Presbyterian.

QUOTABLE
"Well the last 20 seconds, I was trying to stay in good position, and he caught me leaning and chucked me by and ended up getting a takedown. I didn't know how much time was left, but as soon as I got taken down, to be honest, I held my breath, flexed out as hard as I could and got the reverse. I don't know what I did...I just knew what something had to be done, and I did it." –
Jake Boyd on the dramatic final seconds of his 5-4 win
Â
"We can get better. You know, get more takedowns. Our goal was to get riding time in every match, and we didn't quite do that. We're seeing our guys building confidence throughout matches instead of having it right away. That doesn't mean we have to go out there and shoot right away. It means hey, I have a confidence that i can get you a leg and can score in the first period, in the second period, in the third period and just dominate somebody. Smell the blood in the water and take advantage of it."
– Kyle Ruschell on tonight's performance
