CHATTANOOGA---The 20th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs are back in game week mode. Win or lose, it's time to turn the page. The next one is the biggest one in the survive and advance world of Southern Conference football. The SoCon is one of just six leagues in FCS where all teams in the league face each other year after year.

The next one? On the road at Mercer. The Bears are receiving votes in both polls, but that's the list anyone on either side of the field is looking at. The SoCon standings are all that matter with the top finishers in line to continue their seasons in the playoffs.

We mentioned yesterday that six teams are separated by a mere 1.5 games. It's anybody's game from here, but the Mocs at 3-1 and Bears at 2-1 know that keeping the one is the most important thing so expect a hotly contested affair.

Coach Rusty Wright opened our weekly press conference followed by wide receiver Jamoi Mayes and defensive back Romeo Wykle. Wykle has started the last five games at nickel/slot safety position, one of the pivotal spots in the defense. Mayes has emerged as one of the nation's top wide receivers.
