Nieves Martin and the Chattanooga Mocs got the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate underway at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville.

KNOXVILLE---The Chattanooga Mocs shot 301 to start the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate at Cherokee Country. The opening round puts the ladies six behind Wisconsin and five better than ETSU on the leaderboard.
Nieves Martin, making her first start of 2023-24, and Makenzie Cooper led the way with twin 74s. Giulia Foresta was two behind the duo with 76, while Violeta Fernandez-Tagle is one behind her at 77. Kera Healey's 79 was the drop score. Carmen Belmonte matched Fernandez-Tagle's 77 playing as an individual.
UCF blitzed the field over the starting 18. It fired 271 and leads second-place Maryland by 12. Not surprisingly, they also boast the individual leader with Molly Smith's 66 (-5) leading by one.
The Mocs open play Monday at 9:30 a.m., paired with ETSU and Wisconsin. Healey leads off on No. 10 followed by Fernandez-Tagle, Foresta, Martin and Cooper. Belmonte is off No. 1 at 9:55 a.m. Live scoring, including pairings when available, is linked above.
