Makenzie Cooper moved into the lead at the Evie Odom Invitational as the Chattanooga Mocs closed to five strokes out of first.

VIRGINIA BEACH---It was moving day at the Evie Odom Invitational. The Chattanooga Mocs took full advantage. Their 287 today provides a total of 572 at Princess Anne Country Club.
The ladies stayed in third, now tied with Furman, but closed to within five strokes of UCF which maintained the top spot on the leaderboard with 567. Kent State is second at 569.
"Happy with the fight," Coach Colette Murray shared. "Only two played well today, and the rest had to grit it out with tougher conditions than the first day. They didn't give up and are excited to go again tomorrow."
Makenzie Cooper led the way with another 68. It gives her a 4-under total of 136 and one shot lead going into Sunday's final round. Violeta Fernandez carded even-par 70 with Carmen Belmonte at 74 and Giulia Foresta 75 to round out the team scoring. Kera Healey's 76 was the drop score.
Fernandez joins Cooper in the top 25 in a tie for 24th with 145. Healey is just a shot back at 146 which is one better than Foresta's 147. Belmonte has 150 through two rounds.
The Mocs start the final round off No. 1 at 8:50 a.m. Belmonte leads with Foresta (9:00), Healey (9:10), Fernandez (9:20) and Cooper (9:30) close behind. The group is paired with College of Charleston and Old Dominion.
