CHATTANOOGA---The 16th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs return from the long-awaited off week with their regular season finale at SEC West-leading Alabama. It's the 14th meeting all-time between the programs. The series started in 1908 but has been a semi-rotational occurrence with four matchups since 2009.

It's a matchup of two teams with playoffs in mind. The Mocs learn their fate for the FCS version on Sunday, Nov. 19, while the Crimson Tide continue their march toward the FBS edition.

There are several ties to the Tide both present and past. Defensive coordinator Lorenzo White played on the Capstone from 1986-89 hailing from Greensboro, Ala. Two former Chattanooga coaches have prominent places in Tuscaloosa.

CFB Hall of Famer Frank Thomas went 26-9-2 in four Scenic City seasons (1925-28) before 15 campaigns on the Capstone (115-24-7). He won three SIAA titles with the Mocs and four SEC titles. H.D. Drew followed him for two seasons at UC (13-5-2) before joining Thomas' staff and becoming head coach from 1947-54.

Alabama gave back to the Mocs in 1980 on the coaching front. "Brother" Bill Oliver made the transition from a 9-season run as the Tide's secondary coach to taking the helm at Chattanooga for four campaigns with a 29-14-1 record.
