SPARTANBURG, S.C. (December 13, 2023) --- Following the first double-double performance of his career in addition to his efforts in the classroom, Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball redshirt sophomore forward
Randy Brady has been tabbed the Southern Conference's Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
The league's weekly student-athlete honor is Brady's first of his career and the first for the program since Malachi Smith was garnered on November 24, 2021. Brady is just the third different Moc in program history to earn SoCon SAOTW honors with the award's history dating back to 2002-03. Malachi's award in 2021-22 followed the late Eric Robertson's two all-time honors, one in 2013-14 and the second in 2014-15.
Brady finished Sunday's 112-51 win over Tennessee Wesleyan tying his career-high in points (11) and threes made (2) while setting a new career benchmark in rebounds (12), adding in a pair of assists in 20 minutes of floor time. The double-double effort is the first of his career and fourth for a Moc during the current 2023-24 season.
In the classroom, Brady carries a 3.33 overall GPA as a BSBA: Finance: Investments major. He was named to the 2023 Spring Academic All-Southern Conference Team following his classroom and on-court success in the spring.
Brady's SAOTW selection is Chattanooga's fourth of the 2023-24 academic calendar which is second-most among fellow league members this year. Since the start of the 2021-22, the Mocs have earned 22 SAOTW selections which is four more than the next league foe (Furman, 18).
