CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team rebounded from last week's tight loss with a convincing 6-1 win over EKU in non-conference action on Friday morning at The McCallie School's Strang-Voges Tennis Center.
 
Chattanooga improves to 4-1 on the season after the victory while EKU drops to 1-6 following the defeat. UTC improves to 6-2 all-time against EKU.
 
The Mocs jumped out to a 1-0 lead following two victories in doubles play from the tandems of Caroline Gibbens and Jessie Young and Coco Bosman and Callie Billman. Bosman and Billman created the early energy with a 6-0 blanking.
 
"The team fought against a very crafty team today," said head coach Chad Camper. "Callie and Coco winning 6-0 in doubles really gave us the momentum in doubles. It's all about improving and we did so today."
 
UTC earned five victories in singles action with the wins coming at the No. 1-4 slots and the No. 6 position. Of the five victories, four were decided in straight sets while the fifth came in super tie-break fashion with Nicole Abel claiming a 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 win over Daniel Hernandez.
 
Chattanooga (4-1) will gear up for another home non-conference tilt on Sunday morning when the squad hosts Presbyterian. First serve is set for 9 a.m. ET inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center on the campus of The McCallie School. Live stats will be available.
