Postgame Quotes

Dan Earl, Head Coach
Opening statement after 73-56 win over Mercer.
"It was good to get a win. It was not our best basketball in the first half and early in the second half. We had a little bit of a spirited timeout, and I thought our guys responded really well. I think we got 13 stops down the stretch which really helped us. Proud of the guys and it's nice to get two in-a-row. We'll see if we can keep it rolling."

On holding Mercer scoreless to end the game.
"It's a lot more fun when things go your way. We still had a couple lulls and at times, and I've repeated this, but we let not making shots effect our defense. I thought the guys responded the last 12 or 15 minutes. It was some of the best basketball we've played and guys were into it."

On the play of Brody Robinson.
"Brody is an awesome kid. He brings it every day in practice, he's so coachable. We talk about finding that intensity, you never have to get more out of him. He plays hard all the time. At times you almost want to slow him down. He really impacted the game and gave us a lift. I'm really proud of him. He made some big shots and had a major impact on the game."

Sam Alexis, Fr.-C
On being confident.
"I get hot in practice and I try to bring that to the game. I feel like I'm always confident when I come to the arena every day."

On the team's defensive intensity.
"It's effort. We play hard. Even in practice we play hard. We're always trying to get stops. We didn't allow Mercer to score for the final seven minutes, that's what we try to do."

Brody Robinson, Fr.-G
On providing a spark.
"It feels really good. I know my job is to come in and effect the game as positively as I can. Whether that's scoring the ball, playing good defense, or finding open guys. I felt like I came in and knocked a couple shots down and energized the whole team."

On hitting the first shot attempt.
"It's like a breakthrough really. It feels good to get the first one and makes you feel like the next one is going to go in. You just have to have energy and I thought we did that today."
