Postgame Quotes

Dan Earl, Head Coach
Opening statement after 73-56 win over Mercer.
"I thought overall, a really good win. I thought we played the right way, particularly in the first half, defense was locked in and we shared the ball well. VMI is a very competitive team and they do some things different defensively, they leave guys open and sometimes you want to shoot it right away. We did a really good job of moving the ball at the appropriate times and taking shots at the right time. It was a really good win over a competitive VMI team."

On return to VMI.
"It's an interesting feeling. Part of being at VMI, you live right on campus. My girls grew up here. We've been here for seven years, they grew up here. It was interesting to say the least. I've seen a ton of familiar faces. I have great respect for VMI and extremely grateful for the opportunity they gave me. I loved my days here and am very appreciative of everything. It was emotional for sure."

On second half performance.
"I don't know how composed we were, but they did get hot. It was similar to how it turned out earlier this season at home, we just had a bigger lead here. I wasn't as pleased with our defensive effort and intensity in the second half, but it was well enough they didn't get too close. Our guys played the right way defensively for the most part."

KC Hankton, Sr.-F
On playing best basketball late.
"It's huge with the tournament coming up. It's always important to get hot towards this part of the season. We need to keep picking it up these last few games and keep moving forward."

On playing more minutes and producing.
"It's been fun getting back to playing a lot of minutes. I'm just trying to do my part and do the little things with Jake being out. I'm always just trying to do those little things and really just do my part to help us win."
