Postgame Quotes
Â
Dan Earl, Head Coach
Opening statement after 75-70 loss to Samford.
"I thought we battled throughout, and I'm proud of the guys for that, we just needed to make more plays down the stretch. We defended pretty well throughout the game, for the most part, other than we let [Jermaine] Marshall have a big game. We couldn't keep him under control. But other than that, we just needed to make a couple plays down the stretch on both sides of the floor."
Â
On the matchup against Samford.
"We took care of the ball pretty well, nothing stands out really. We just need to take the game on a little more down the stretch, the last six minutes or so. Credit to Samford, they're a veteran group. They played hard, we played hard, we just didn't play well down the stretch. We had some good looks, but the ball didn't go down. We have to keep fighting and be ready for Wofford on Saturday."
Â
On both sides of the floor.
"We battled. Both sides of the ball. They're a tough group who presses all game long. I think we did a good job of not turning the ball over that much, we did some good things defensively. I did not think we executed offensively quite well. We got a little stagnant in how we moved offensively. Our guys felt like they could win, just didn't make the plays late."
Â
A.J. Caldwell, R-Sr.-G
On playing last game in McKenzie Arena.
"It's a little surreal. It makes you think of where you've been and where you came from. I don't know if I have the right emotion right now. It just makes you think. I have really enjoyed my time here and I'll cherish it for a long time."
Â
On the team full of seniors who have different paths.
"A lot of us are similar in that way. We've bounced around different places and we've been through a lot of different experiences. College basketball is one of those things that a lot of places are doing the same thing. You kind of bond over your experiences and when you have good guys and good players around, it's easy to gel."
Â
Dalvin White, Gr.-G
On the difference.
"They just hit tough shots at the end. The ball didn't fall our way. We had a couple turnovers late, myself included, and we just didn't hit shots."
