Women's Track and Field Heads to SoCon Indoor Championships this Weekend

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's track and field team will head the Southern Conference Indoor Championships this weekend in Lexington, Va. The meet will be hosted by VMI in the Corps Physical Training Facility beginning Saturday and concluding Sunday evening.

"We have had a really good winter/early spring build up," Mocs head coach Andy Meyer said. "The women are heading into this meet with momentum from our two earlier indoor meets where across the board, they had great performances. They have improved upon that over the last 10 days. We are pretty healthy with a few minor exceptions."

Imani Bryant will hold down the shorter dash events, running the 60 meter and 200 meter events. Transfers Sarah Unterholzner and Jessie Rennich will compete in the 400 meter dash for UTC and Reagan Ruth will run the 60 meter Hurdles.

Sydney Cansler, Lexi Foley and Delaney Mulich will compete in the 800 meter run while Leah Boyd, Faith Brown, Julianna McReynolds and Maddie Wheatcroft will take part in the Mile.

In the longer distances, Lesley Green and Emma Russum will be in both the 3000- and 5000-meter runs. Camden Morris will join the duo in the 3K while Michaela Dabney and Allie Potter will run the longer race.

"Our sprinters should all have a good meet," Meyer said. "Sarah and Reagan have looked strong all winter long. In the mid-distances, Maddie and Leah, both freshmen, have been very good. In the distances, Lesley and Emma have been stellar all season long.

Chattanooga will have a team in both the 4x400 meter and the Distance Medley Relays.

"Our DMR should be solid and our 4 x 4 has gotten faster with each meet," Meyer said "We coaches are very excited to see what the ladies can accomplish this weekend. VMI has a great facility and track capable of producing great times and performances."
