Four Running Mocs qualified for the Raleigh Relays this week in Raleigh, N.C.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs outdoor track and field season is set to open this week with a split crew. The Mocs got four qualifications to the prestigious Raleigh Relays and the rest of the team will compete at the Lee Invitational on Saturday.
Â
Running at the NC State Raleigh Relays will be Lesley Green in the 10,000 meter run while Emma Russum qualified for the 5,000 meter and Maddie Wheatcroft got into the 1500 meter run. Aaron Isbell earned a qualification as well, but due to illness will not make the trip.
Â
"They were fortunate to get selected," Mocs head coach Andy Meyer said. "It is a great accomplishment for them to race against many of the top runners both professional and collegians in the nation."
Â
A little closer to home will be the Lee Invitational on Saturday at Lee University in Cleveland. Field events begin at 10:00 a.m. and the running events will kick off at Noon with the 4x100 meter realys. The meet will conclude Saturday night with the women's 10,000 meter run at 8:25 p.m.
Â
"We are looking forward to opening our outdoor season this year at Lee," Meyer said. "Coach Morgan and his staff do a great job at putting on a high quality meet this early in the season.
Â
"We gave the kids a little down time after the SoCon Indoor Championship, and they have now had about three weeks of hard work to prepare for the outdoor season. This first meet will be a great indicator of where we are and also and indicator on where we need to go."
Â
Live scoring is available for both events online at GoMocs.com.
