Postgame Quotes
Dan Earl, Head Coach
Opening statement after 85-22 win over Samford in the SoCon Tournament Quarterfinal Round.
"Super proud of our guys for pulling it out. That's not quite how we drew it up, I think I lost a couple years off my life after turning the ball over against the press and whatnot. But we hung on and made plays down the stretch and I'm super proud of the guys. It was a similar feeling with the last two times we played them. I think it shows a lot about these guys and how they gutted it out. Credit to Samford, they are a handful."
On the key to the game.
"I thought it was great keeping them off the offensive boards, especially. We would have liked to have a few offensive rebounds ourselves, but I think they had zero at halftime. We did a good job there. They're a handful and keep coming at you. We were strong with the ball after which was key too. I thought our guys did a good job of boxing out, corralling the rebound, and then be strong with it."
Jake Stephens, Gr.-F/C
On the team around him.
"It's super special. Whenever I decided to come here, I knew Coach Earl was going to put the best players around me. These guys have a ton of experience and I can't say enough about that. They bring so much to the table. It can be anyone on this team and everyone steps up when they're asked to step up. It doesn't get much better than that."
Dalvin White, Gr.-G
On Jamal Johnson's shooting ability.
"He's such a good shooter. Whenever he shoots, I feel like it's going in. Whenever he has his feet set and he's so good at shooting over the defender. I always feel like it's going in."
