CHATTANOOGA---A school-record seven Chattanooga Mocs earned 2023 Hampshire Honor Society membership from the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Wednesday. The group includes punter/kickoff specialist
Gabe Boring, offensive lineman
McClendon Curtis, quarterback
Preston Hutchinson, wide receiver
Andrew Manning, punter
Jason Pierce, kicker
Aaron Sears and defensive back
CaMiron Smith.
Â
The seven are part of an elite group of 1,734 student-athletes from all levels of collegiate football – NCAA DI, II & III, NAIA and
Sprint Football. The group comes from 328 different institutions with this year's total being the highest for the organization in the program's 17th year.
Â
Student-athletes must have maintained a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale and met all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements. The honorees are also required to have been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2022 season.
Â
The seven new inductees gives the Mocs a total of 29 over the 17 seasons the award has been bestowed by the NFF. Curtis is the eighth offensive lineman following 2022 NFL Draft first round selection
Cole Strange. Smith marks the fourth defensive back, while the special teams trio now boasts five for that room.
Â
Hutchinson is the second QB matching former 3-time Southern Conference Player of the Year Jacob Huesman. Manning is the fourth wide receiver.
