CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball program and second-year head coach Julie Torbett have announced the additions of four student-athletes to the upcoming 2023 roster on Thursday.
 
Chattanooga welcomes three incoming freshmen and a transfer as part of the four-part signing class which includes: Morgan Romano (Oviedo, Fla. / Rider University), Catherine Barthel (Indianapolis, Ind. / Cathedral High School), Kynedi Jennings (Memphis, Tenn. / Briarcrest Christian School) and Jordyn Butler (Columbia, Mo. / Battle High School).
 
Morgan Romano – 5'10 – Opposite Hitter – Graduate – Oviedo, Fla. (Rider University)
2022, 2021 All-MAAC First Team
2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District
2020 AVCA All-American Honorable Mention
First-ever, four-time All-MAAC selection in program history
1,582 career kills, 130 career aces, 187 career blocks, 903 career digs, 1810.5 career points
 
Coach Torbett on Romano: "We have high expectations for Morgan after her phenomenal career at Rider. She knows what it is like to be the go-to player and can handle that pressure after being Rookie of The Year and Player of the Year of the MAAC. She also comes from a very strong club program that added together with her college career puts her as one of the most experienced and successful players to come into our program."
 
Jordyn Butler – 5'10 – Outside Hitter – Freshman – Columbia, Mo. (Battle HS)

Coach Torbett on Butler: "Jordyn is a strong outside hitter who we evaluated and got to know during camp. She really liked Chattanooga, the coaching staff, the players and what we have to offer academically. I think she will fit in really well with our team and grow as a player and a person at UTC."

Coach Torbett on Jennings: "We are excited to get Kynedi in the program. She has a great foundation to build from. She is a talented athlete that achieved a lot of success in the state of Tennessee and we want her to bring that winning attitude and experience into the gym every day."
