Mocs Track Heads to Georgia Tech Invite

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs outdoor track and field team will close out the regular season this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta.

"This will be our last tune-up meet for the conference meet," Mocs head coach Andy Meyer said. "Georgia Tech hosts a very competitive meet and is one of the kids' favorite of the season."

Events will begin Friday evening for Chattanooga with Reagan Ruth in the 100m hurdles. Imani Bryant will follow with the 100 meter dash and the women's 1500 meter starts at 7:15 p.m. with Leah Boyd, Julianna McReynolds, Maddie Wheatcroft and Faith Brown.

The men's 1500 meter run with Aaron Isbell will follow the women's race and Eamonn O'Bryant will run his third 3000 meter steeplechase. The men's and women's 5000 meter runs will round out the day at 9:15 p.m. Lesley Green and Emma Russum will represent the women while Eric Mitchell and Erik Martinez will run in the men's race. There are two sections for each 5000m race with the second starting at 9:55 p.m.

Saturday begins and ends with the relays. The 4x100 meter race begins at 1:00 p.m. followed by the 400 meter intermediate hurdles with Sarah Unterholzner at 1:25 p.m.

Lexi Foley will run the women's 800 meter and Bryant hits the blocks for the 200 meter dash at 4:00 p.m. Jessika Rennich, Emmy Davis, Allie Potter and Andrea Ellis are slated for the final race of the day for UTC, the 4x400 meter relay.

"They have a great track, very fast and of course all the races and heats are very fast," Meyer said. "For many of our kids this will be the last time to get in a time for a good lane, seed assignment at the conference meet.  It will be also the last chance for some to meet some of the minimum standards to get into the conference meet."
