BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team saw its seven-match winning streak halted during a 6-1 loss on the road at Samford indoors at the Samford Tennis Center on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Ala., during Southern Conference action.
 
Following the loss, Chattanooga was thwarted of a chance to claim at least a share of a SoCon title for the first time in program history and drops to 15-5 overall and 5-1 inside SoCon play. Samford improves to 10-9 overall and 5-1 in league action.
 
Both the Mocs and Bulldogs sit alone at the top of the regular season standings with just one conference match left each for the two teams. Both matches will occur on April as Chattanooga will head to UNCG while Samford will head to Mercer.
 
Samford earned a 1-0 lead following doubles action after securing wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The tandem of Kerim Hyatt and Kristof Kincses posted a 6-3 win at No. 2 to notch the team's lone win at doubles.
 
Freshman Cortland Grove provided the team its only point on the scoreboard behind a smooth 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 6 singles position. Ryan Mudre dropped a tough 7-5, 3-6, 10-6 match at the No. 5 while the other four matches were decided in straight sets.
 
Chattanooga finishes off its home schedule with a non-conference match against UAB on Monday, April 10, at the UTC Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. ET and live stats will be available at GoMocs.com.
