Soccer Takes on North Alabama Thursday on the Road

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's soccer team will play its third straight road game to start the season at North Alabama Thursday night in Florence, Ala.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Chattanooga ran its unbeaten streak to four games wit a 2-1 win over North Alabama at the UTC Sports Complex. Clarissa Salinas scored her first collegiate goal on an assist from Birna Johannsdottir and assisted on the game winning goal from Shelby Hash in the second half. UTC out shot UNA 11-7 (7-4 SOG). Caroline Ekern tallied three saves and improved her record to 2-0-2. Caroline Richvalsky had a game-high four shots with two on goal.

Chattanooga holds a 5-0 record against North Alabama with a 3-0 record at home and 2-0 on the road.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (1-1-0)
The Mocs opened the 2023 season on the road at Vanderbilt with a 3-1 loss. Zoey Mize found the net for the Mocs first score of the season. In the second game, Birna Johannsdottir sent her corner kick to the far post and into the net for the lone goal of the game and the Mocs first win of the season. She leads the team with three points that include an assist at Vanderbilt. She has five shots. Mize leads the team with six shots. Caroline Richvalsky has a team-best three shots on goal on just four shots taken. Caroline Ekern has 180 minutes in goal with 10 saves, a .769 save percentage on 30 shots faced and a 1.5 goals-against average.
 
ABOUT NORTH ALABAMA (0-1-1)
This will be the home opener for North Alabama. The Lions opened the season with a 1-0 loss at Belmont and a 1-1 draw at Southern Indiana. Olivia Heinert has the lone goal for UNA on two shots. Alice Bussey leads the team with six shots. Adriana Wright started both games in goal for the Lions and has three saves with a 1.0 goals against average.
 
LAST MATCH NOTES
The Mocs picked up their first shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory on the road at Tennessee Tech. Birna Johannsdottir's corner kick went over the Tech keeper and off the top of the far post into the net for the lone score of the match. Chattanooga keeper Caroline Ekern had three saves in the match and tallied her seventh career shutout. Johannsdottir and Zoe Mize led UTC with four shots apiece while Caroline Richvalsky had three.
