Soccer Hosts San Francisco Thursday in Historic Start

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team hosts San Francisco Thursday night at Finley Stadium in the first meeting between the two programs. The Dons will face the 6-1 Mocs Thursday and travel to Georgia for a Sunday tilt.

ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (6-1, 0-0 SoCon)
The Mocs downed Belmont 3-1 to run its win streak to a historic six consecutive matches on Sunday, Sept. 10. The streak bests the Mocs five-game win streak to start the 2009 season and a pair of 5-0-1 streaks, the latest in the 2022 campaign. After scoring a single goal in each of its first three matches, Chattanooga has posted multiple goals in the last four including a hat track from Caroline Richvalsky. She and teammate Birna Johannsdottir are tied atop the Mocs standings for most points. Richvalsky has a team-best five goals and Johannsdottir leads UTC with six assists. Four Mocs have multiple goals while three more have one. Six players have accounted for UTC's 17 assists. Caroline Ekern started the first six games for the Mocs and has 21 saves and a 1.03 goals-against average and boasts a 4-1-0 record including a pair of shutouts. Freshman Claire Smith picked up back-to-back wins in 105:22 minutes in goal with a .750 save percentage.
 
ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO (1-4-2, 0-0 WCC)
The Dons started the season with four losses, including a 4-0 loss to #6 Stanford, but are currently riding a three-game unbeaten streak that includes a win at UC Riverside on Sunday. USF is averaging 1.14 goals per game and 13.4 shots per game. Alex Carpio and Olivia Likrofka lead the team in scoring with four points each with two goals apiece. Four other have a goal and six have one assist each. Alexia Kira Ybarra has played 540 minutes in goal with a 1-3-2 record including one shutout. She has 28 saves.

Chattanooga 3, Belmont 1 - Chattanooga, Tenn.
Chattanooga came away with a 3-1 win over Belmont Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium for a program-record sixth consecutive and improved to 6-1 on the year. Birna Johannsdottir assisted on the first two goals of the match and Betha Pucek, who scored the first goal, assisted on the last. Caroline Richvalsky knocked home her team-leading fifth goal of the season and third game winner while freshman Mary Beth Skelton headed in her first collegiate goal. Chattanooga outshot the Bruins 28-6 and had 16 shots on goal. Caroline Richvalsky had 10 shots with seven on goal while playing all 90 minutes. Claire Smith had two saves on three shots faced Sunday. The win marked Chattanooga's longest win streak in program history. The Mocs started the 2009 season with five consecutive wins and put together a pair of 5-0-1 unbeaten streaks including one in the 2022 season.
