ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (7-2, 1-0 SoCon)
The Mocs went a program-best 6-2 in non-conference play that including a record six-game win streak. That followed with a SoCon opening 3-2 win over Mercer. The Mocs scored its final two goals with less than five minutes to play in the match. Chattanooga leads the SoCon with a 7-2, 1-0 SoCon record. The Mocs average 2.0 goals per game and have a .761 save percentage. Caroline Richvalsky leads the Mocs with six goals and is third in the league. Birna Johannsdottir has a SoCon-best six assists. Richvalsky has three game-winning goals and Johannsdottir has two. Richvalsky is second in the SoCon for scoring with 14 points, Johannsdottir has 12. Caroline Ekern has a 1.27 goals-against average, a .762 save percentage, two shutouts and averages four saves per game.
 
ABOUT THE CITADEL (3-2-4, 0-1 SoCon)
The Bulldogs lost just once in their first eight matches and opened league play with a 2-1 loss at UNC Greensboro last Thursday. The Citadel has outscored its opponents 14-10 and averaged 1.56 goals per game. Aiana Paez has a team-best 11 points with a team-best three goals and five assists with two game winners. Duncan has 10 points on three goals and four assists. Samantha Grantham and Didi Turay have two goals apiece. Nora Sampson has started all nine matches in goal and has allowed nine goals for a 1.06 goals-against average. She has a .813 save percentage on 39 saves.

The Mocs opened Southern Conference play Thursday with a thrilling 3-2 win over Mercer at Finley Stadium. Trailing 2-1 with just under five minutes to play, Hannah Opie found Caroline Richvalsky in the box to tie the match 2-2 in the 85^th minute. After a UTC corner kick try was knocked over the end line by the Bears, the Mocs went to the other corner for another attempt. Zoey Mize lined up the shot and it went over the keeper's hand and into the net on the far side for the game winner with 1:22 remaining. Clarissa Salinas scored the Mocs first goal, equalizing the match 1-1 in the first half. UTC edged Mercer 15-14 on shots and 7-6 on shots on goal. The Bears had seven corner kicks to the Mocs three.
 
UP NEXT
Thursday, Sept. 28: Chattanooga remains on the road to take on East Tennessee State in Johnson City. UTC leads the series 9-5-4 and are 3-0-2 against the Bucs in the last five meetings. In Johnson City, the series is tied at 4-4-1.
 
McKINNEY NAMED AMBASSADOR FOR "MEN WEAR PINK" CAMPAIGN
Head coach Gavin McKinney is raising funds in the fight against breast cancer. His wife Shari was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 shortly after the birth of their second daughter. Donations may be made by searching "Men Wear Pink of Chattanooga."
 
RICHVALSKY RECORDS HAT TRICK, NAMED ATHLETE OF THE WEEK BY SOCON AND TSWA
Caroline Richvalsky scored all three goals for the Mocs in a 3-1 win over Jacksonville State at Finley Stadium. She was named the women's soccer Player of the Week by both the Southern Conference and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. It was UTC's first hat trick since Chloe Arnold scored three in a double-overtime win at The Citadel in 2017. Arnold's game winner came in the 108^th minute in Charleston.
 
MOCS SET PROGRAM RECORD WITH SIX CONSECUTIVE WINS
Chattanooga opened the season with a loss at Vanderbilt, but bounced back strong with a program-record six-game win streak. The Mocs previous best was five straight wins to start the 2009 season and a pair of 5-0-1 unbeaten streaks, the latest in 2022.
