Postgame Quotes

Dan Earl, Head Coach
Overall thoughts on 109-61 win over VMI.
"Overall I was really happy with how our guys performed tonight. As Corey mentioned, we had eight guys in double figures, and I think thatshow that we're sharing the ball. 22 assists, six turnovers; just another thing that indicates that we're sharing the ball. I thought we also got off to a good start, which is something else we've been struggling with for a little while. The past two or three games we've been pretty good with that. We were focused, ready to go and overall just played the game the right way. Happy for the guys."

On if the game plan involved using Sam Alexis' size.
"He played really well. Obviously with the 15 rebounds, that's huge, and then as you mentioned he had 14 points as well. We were trying to get the ball inside a little bit, and it's one of those things where you think you may have an advantage there, but you don't want to force it or have him thinking that everytime I get it I just gotta look to score. I thought he did a pretty good job passing the ball, he had four assists and no turnovers which is really good. As a big, you have to just play slow and see and if he's one-on-one attack or if he's not kick it out and I thought he had a very good game overall."

On the team's fast start putting things out of reach early-on.
"That's ideal, right? We played however many games back about three games in a row where we had gotten off to some really poor starts for whatever reason. We always want to get out of the gates as fast as possible and just reminding the guys that when that ball's tipped, it's go time. It's not let me get my legs under me and figure out how hard or fast this team is gonna play. You gotta be ready to go and I think we've done a much better job at that in the last two or three games."

On going 5-for-6 from three-point range tonight.
"It feels good to just hit some shots. I haven't been shooting as well as I think I can the whole year, so seeing some shots fall through felt great."

On the team's fast start to the game.
"Yeah that's definitely been on our minds, starting off fast. We've been changing up the rotation and subbing guys in and out faster just to have more energy, and I think that helped us a lot tonight."

On what the key was to building such a large lead.
"I think it was just us sharing the ball. I feel like it's hard to beat us when we're getting 20-plus assists or 22 assists. With the way we shoot the ball, it's just hard to beat a team like that."
