Postgame Quotes

Dan Earl, Head Coach
Overall thoughts on 79-65 victory at Wofford.
"That was a huge key to the game, getting off to a good start, we really brought energy. We were able to knock some balls free and get out in transition early which really helped us. Wofford is a really good team who will not go away. Coach [Dwight] Perry does a great job; they've been in a lot of games and won a lot of close games. They know how to win. I thought we followed the game plan almost perfectly, we communicated on defense really well, and we held them to only five threes. Overall, I thought we did a really good job."
Â
On matchup differences.
"Wofford has a really good team. They're not the biggest team in the world, but what's hard about that is, you want to take advantage of that, but you can't force it. When they go small, you want to dump down in the paint, but you also want to keep running your offense."
Â
On getting into the paint & sharing the ball.
"That was a big key for us tonight. We didn't want to be relying on the three-point, we wanted to get downhill against their size. You saw early on, we got up early, and then we got kind-of trigger happy and took some just OK shots in the middle of the first half. You have to be OK with one night having four, the next maybe having 22, it's whatever it takes to win. I thought we did a good job of that tonight with five guys in double figures."

Honor Huff, So.-G
On setting the tone early.
"I think we really set the tone in the first four minutes of the game. I thought we came out with a sense of urgency on both ends, especially the defensive end, we came in with a big emphasis on guarding and paying attention to the scout. I thought we did a great job of that tonight and even on their little runs, we stayed in control."
Â
On the play of Myles Che & his return to the five.
"He's a player. Whether he's coming off the bench or starting, he's going to play hard. To add him in there, and his leadership as a freshman is big. He's always keeping us going on both ends of the floor and it's great to see him step up today."
Â
On spreading the ball & scoring.
"Realistically, that's a better game for us. Everyone wants to score 20, but realistically, we have to move the ball, play within ourselves, create for others, that's what makes us click and become hard to beat. That's what has helped us in these three games."
