Postgame Quotes

Dan Earl, Head Coach
Overall thoughts on 91-75 victory at Western Carolina.
"I thought that was a really gutty win. We weren't playing particularly well in the first half, especially offensively. We were turning it over too much and they came out firing on all cylinders. And you see how tough [Vontarious] Woolbright is. He scored 36 points and yet, I feel like for a decent amount of the game we did a good job. I thought Randy Brady was outstanding tonight on the defensive end against him. I'm just proud of the guys. To not play great in the first half, and just compete throughout, I'm really proud of them."

On closing things out down the stretch.
"Once we got legs under us, especially in the first ten minutes of the second half, I thought we did a really good job defensively. It helps when you make shots. We made the free throws down the stretch when things were not squared up. Everyone made the free throws and that was huge. It's a bit different when you miss those. It's tough when you have a guy like Woolbright on the other end who can just get downhill."

On momentum into halftime and adjustments coming out.
"Trey makes that big three before halftime, and I think that rallied the guys. I told them that in the locker room. I don't think it was a lack of effort from us in the first half, it just wasn't clean and didn't play great. I told them we were down two and we could play a whole lot better. I thought the guys listened and the first ten minutes of the second half, I thought they played outstanding and all together."

Trey Bonham, Sr.-G
On trying to control Vontarious Woolbright.
"We knew he was going to get shots up. He has the second-highest usage percentage in the country. We just wanted to make sure to control everyone else around him."

On moving up the SoCon standings.
"I look at it a little bit, it's still early. I, and we, don't pay much attention to it. We've seen what we could be, so it's just continuing to do what we can do."
