CHATTANOOGA---The 19th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs are home for the first time since…*checks notes*…

Well, it's been a while. Back-to-back Southern Conference road wins bring the good guys home at 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the league. Another key contest awaits as the Wofford Terriers trot into Finley Stadium Saturday afternoon at 3-3 as well, 1-2 in conference play.

"Thankful to play at home...looking forward to it," Coach Rusty Wright said. "We're playing a team that usually gives us a bunch of trouble, gives us some issues and I know they'll be ready to play.

"They're a lot better than they were last year. We gotta figure out a way this week to get a win."

But first, a look back at the 41-10 win at Furman. The triumph matched the largest margin of victory in the series by the Mocs with the 45-14 triumph on Sept. 22, 1979 in Greenville. One of the keys earned SoCon recognition this week.

Kicker Jude Kelley is the league's Special Teams Player of the Week. He scored 11 points making field goals from 24 and 42 yards as well as a spotless 5-5 record on PATs. Add in a couple of touchback kickoffs after taking over those duties mid-game, and it was an eventful day for the junior from Acworth, Ga.

"Jude had a good game Saturday," Wright added. "We asked him to do a bunch of different things. He came in and made two big field goals at crucial times, and he's got to continue to do that. He's more than capable of doing that, and we expect him to be a good player for us there."

One can't help but ask "what about the defense"? It held the Paladins to 10 points and less than 250 yards total offense on their home turf and created five turnovers including four interceptions. But it was also a team effort with four different defenders collecting an interception along the way.

Chat with the Mocs is on the air tonight. The weekly coaches show features Coach Wright and a selected student-athlete with "Voice of the Mocs" Jim Reynolds from 7-8 p.m., every Monday at Miller's Ale House at Northgate. Tonight's special guest is defensive end Chris Victor.

The show airs on WFLI 96.1 FM, 100.3 FM and 1070 AM. It also broadcasts across the interwebs here on GoMocs.com.
