CHATTANOOGA---The 18th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs hit the road for the next two weeks of Southern Conference play. This week is part of the SoCon's 1-lossapalooza among the top four in the league.
Â
The Mocs and Mercer are tied for first at 4-1. A half-game back in third is Western Carolina and ETSU. Chattanooga faces the Catamounts while the Bucs head south into the Bears den as separation Saturday looms.
Â
UTC's 5-game winning streak is on the line as well. It's been a defensive effort carrying the way in the Scenic City while offense is the order of the day for Smoky Mountain lads in Cullowhee.

While the defense has certainly popped, the offense has been up to the challenge as well. The Mocs are averaging 34.2 points per game over the 5-game win streak. They've done it both throwing and running over that stretch, but the under the radar stat that highlights the ongoing success is on third downs.
Â
Over the first three games, just four of 37 third down opportunities (10.8%) were converted. Over the last five? 43 of 75 (57.3%) including a school-record 11 of 13 against Portland State. The Mocs converted 10 or more twice.
Â
Chat with the Mocs is on the air tonight. The weekly coaches show features Coach Wright and a selected student-athlete with "Voice of the Mocs" Jim Reynolds from 7-8 p.m., every Monday at Miller's Ale House at Northgate. Tonight's special guest is running back
Joseph Bakhole.
