Soccer Hosts ETSU Sunday in Annual Pink Game

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga soccer team returns home for a two-game stretch beginning with ETSU Sunday evening. Fans are encouraged to wear PINK to support the fight against breast cancer. The game is slated to kick off at 5:00 p.m. following the Chattanooga Football Club (CFC) home game against NY Red Bulls II at 1:00 p.m.

CHATTANOOGA vs. ETSU
The Mocs lead the series 9-6-4 against the Bucs. At home UTC is 5-1-3 and 8-6-4 in Southern Conference play. ETSU snapped the Mocs five-game unbeaten streak in the series with a 1-0 win in Johnson City. Over the last six meetings, UTC is 3-1-2 against ETSU.
 
LAST TIME THEY MET
ETSU held the Mocs to a season-low six shots while the Bucs had eight shots in the match. Zoey Mize had two shots and Caroline Richvalsky's lone shot was saved. ETSU's game winner came in the 78th minute from Sinoxolo Cesane to the upper right corner.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Despite outshooting Mercer, the Mocs fell 2-0 to the Bears in Macon, Ga., Thursday night. Chattanooga had at least 21 shots in the match, a season-high, led by Caroline Richvalsky who fired off a career-high nine with five on goal, also a career-best. She was surrounded most of the night by a platoon of defenders. Zoey Mize had four shots with two on goal and Clarissa Salinas added three. The Mocs came out aggressive and kept the ball in their half of the field and the attacking third most of the match and allowed just 10 shots, four on goal. Mercer's first goal was a high shot just under the crossbar in the 63rd minute and the second was a penalty kick with less than five minutes to play.

Mocs Match Season-High for Shots Taken/On Goal
Caroline Richvalsky fired off a career-high nine shots against Mercer (10/3) to lead the Mocs who had 24 shots overall. That matched the season-high set on Sept. 19 at Wofford. UTC had 11 shots on goal in the match, a season-high, led by Richvalsky's career-best five. UTC also had a season-high eight corner kicks against the Bears.
 
Mocs Fourth in SoCon in Goals Against Average
Caroline Ekern has played every minute  in goal for the Mocs and has a 1.5 goals against average. UTC ranks fourth in that category. In 12 matches, UTC has allowed just one or fewer goals. Four times, two goals were scored against the Mocs and just once was the total four. Eight games were decided by one or fewer goals this season.
 
Richvalsky Hits Season-Highs at Mercer
Caroline Richvalsky fired off a career-best nine shots at Mercer and tallied a career-best five shots on goal against the Bears.
 
Richvalsky Leads Mocs With Pair of Game Winning Goals
Caroline Richvalsky scored both of Chattanooga game winning goals this season. She scored the Mocs lone goal against Jacksonville State and clinched the match in the SoCon-opener at Wofford.
 
Richvalsky in the Mocs Record Books
Junior Caroline Richvalsky entered the Mocs career records list just halfway through her junior year. She ranks 10th for points (36) and goals (14) and eighth with 153 shots taken over her career.
 
Ekern Guarding the Goal with Career Numbers
Caroline Ekern took over keeper duties as a freshman. Since then, she has etched her name into UTC's record books. She is second behind Stacey Matthiessen (30) for most wins with 18, tied with Abbey Saddler at fourth for most shutouts with 11, sixth with a 1.24 goals against average and eighth with 147 career saves.
 
Caroline Richvalsky Tied for Sixth in Goals Scored
Caroline Richvalsky is tied for 12th in the Southern Conference for goals scored with four on the year. She scored the game winners against Jacksonville State and Wofford. She had the Mocs first goal of the season at Georgia State and scored the equalizer against Tennessee Tech.
 
Zoey Mize Leads Mocs in Assists, Third in SoCon
Zoey Mize leads UTC with four assists and is tied for third in the Southern Conference. She assisted on the Mocs first goal of the season at Georgia State as well as the game winner at Jacksonville State and Wofford and the equalizer against Tennessee Tech.
 
Mize, Richvalsky Team Up for Four Goals
Juniors Caroline Richvalsky and Zoey Mize have teamed up to lead the Mocs this season. The pair first connected on the Mocs season-opening goal at Georgia State. Mize got her second assist of the season setting up Richvalsky for the game winner at Jacksonville State. The duo once again paired up to score the equalizer against Tennessee Tech at Finley Stadium. In the SoCon opener at Wofford, Mize fed Richvalsky for the game winner against the Terriers.
 
Mocs in the National Rankings
• The Mocs are ranked 128th for shot accuracy (.468), 176th for shots on goal per game (5.42) and 196th for shots per game (11.58).
• Clarissa Salinas is tied with 247 players this year so far for penalty kicks. She is 1-for-1 with the game-tying PK against Georgia State. The Mocs are one of 131 teams to hit all PK attempts.
• Caroline Ekern is 33rd in the NCAA for Goalie Minutes Played at 1080:00. She has played every minute in goal for Chattanooga this season.
• Zoey Mize is 99th in the NCAA for total assists with four. She has fed all four of her assists to Caroline Richvalsky including two game winners and an equalizer.
• Caroline Richvalsky is 78th in the NCAA for game winning goals with two, 68th for shots per game at 3.25 and 120th for shots on goal with 1.42 per game.
• Paige Thomas is ranked 32nd for shot accuracy at 0.609. She is 127th for shots on goal per game with 1.4 on frame.
 
Senior Day Set For Thursday, October 10 vs. The Citadel
Chattanooga will honors six seniors on October 10 vs. The Citadel. Long-time Mocs Sylvie Keck, Kelly Tuerff and Ella Roth along with transfers Taylor Morris, Brenna Swiger and Hannah Morton will all be recognized prior to the Mocs 5 p.m. kick off at Finley Stadium.
 
Sister-Sister
The Mocs have had sisters on the team several times including twins. This season junior Zoey Mize is joined by her sister freshman Sophia Mize. The pair have started all eight games for UTC. Zoey is second in scoring with a team-best three assists and Sophia has played all 90 minutes in four matches.
