POSTGAME QUOTES
Dan Earl, Head Coach
Opening thoughts after the 85-63 win over Alabama A&M.
"I thought it was a good game overall, I'm proud of the games. I give Alabama A&M a ton of credit, we opened the game up a bit and then they kept fighting and made it pretty tense there in the second half. We had 18 assists last game, 19 this game, we are sharing the ball extremely well and I'm proud of the guys for that. We have to figure out how to get multiple stops in-a-row, we let them get loose a bit in the second half. We have to clean that up, but overall, I'm proud of the guys."
Â
On coming together over the last week-plus.
"We've had some the most unselfish and spirited competitive practices, but unselfishly we're sharing the ball very well. I think I stopped them a couple times in the last couple days about sharing the ball maybe too much. I'm trying to explain it and not get in their head about it, but I'd rather be overly unselfish rather than be selfish. But we do need to clean that up and I don't want guys passing up shots."
Â
On the play of Garrison Keeslar.
"He is the most unselfish guy. He only cares about winning. And I think we need more of that across the board although we do have an unselfish group. He just makes play after play, and those plays aren't going to show up in the stat sheet. It's a deflection, or a loose ball deflection that doesn't count for a rebound. The defensive effort, he makes it tough on the other team. He does all the little things, it's a winning formula.
Â
Honor Huff, G-Jr.
On the slow-ish start for himself and Trey Bonham.
"It's been a tough start for both of us to say the least. Our teammates and coaching staff has the most belief and confidence in us to get it done and make plays on both sides of the ball. If we're not making an impact scoring, doing the other things is what we focused on. We know we have to get going for this team."
Â
On responding from adversity and coming off the reserve role on Thursday.
"I wasn't going hard enough in practices and games, and I understood that, I didn't take any offense to that. I just practiced hard and went out and played hard. The coaching staff thought that was the best thing for the team, and I'm a team player and I want what's best for the team. It was really good to refocus and reshape my focus on how to get back to me. I think my leadership stepped up over this and I'm confident to keep this going."
