Postgame Quotes

Dan Earl, Head Coach
Overall thoughts after dominating 89-61 win at UNCG.
"To be honest, I don't know how that works, and if we had the formula, we would use it more often [laughing about the turnaround in meetings]. I thought this was as locked in on both sides of the ball as we've been all year. Trey Bonham, I was so happy with how he was seeing the floor in the system, especially in the first half. He was making great decisions throughout, and it wasn't just him, our whole team was great tonight at communication on defense and playing the appropriate way as much as possible."

On matching UNCG's physicality after the first meeting.
"We did test our guys. We have a ton of respect for UNCG and coach [Mike] Jones. They do a tremendous job of playing physically and getting out in front of you. When they pressure you, you can't just pass the ball and go east-west. You have to take the ball downhill and I thought our guys did a great job of responding to that challenge."

On offensive effort.
"It helps to make shots, especially early. We had a little more energy. I was more impressed with how we shared the ball. We got downhill and kicked the ball multiple time to get open shots. To score 89 points against a good defensive team is always great. I thought our decision making was fantastic tonight."

On the team's mentality coming in.
"I'm proud of the guys for taking on the challenge today. UNCG is probably the most physical team in this league. Our guys showed up and I'm proud of that. We hope our guys have that mentality moving forward. I really thought we competed throughout, and you could see the look in their eyes, they were ready to play. I'm proud of their efforts overall."

Trey Bonham, G-Sr.
On the 31-point scoring effort.
"It was just getting in the grove. It was mostly my teammates finding me when I was open. They get into you and have great defensive guards. You can't place east-west against them, you really have to play north-south and get downhill. You have to be aggressive and decisive around the basket."

On shooting success helping confidence.
"A couple plays, it just kind of broke down and we ended up hitting a shot. That's huge for confidence. We shared the ball probably the best we have all season, and we didn't force shots today, I think that was big for our success."

On the turnaround between the last meeting with UNCG.
"I think they got us by a surprise the first time around with their physicality, it's hard to mimic that in practice. We had better preparation coming into today and knew what we had to do coming in. We felt like the first time around we beat ourselves by letting them bully us. We wanted to flip that today coming in."
