CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga softball team shutout North Alabama Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Chattanooga Challenge to claim the title with its fifth consecutive win.

The Mocs improve to 6-4 overall and the Lions drop to 7-3. UTC had five runs on eight hits with a double.
Peja Goold pitched a complete game shutout, giving up four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

With two outs and two on in the first inning,
Kaili Phillips doubled off the top of the fence in center field, driving in both runners to give the Mocs an early lead.

That lead stretched on to the next better when designated player
Kendall Forsythe hit over the shortstop into left center to score Phillips. Forsythe then stole second to move into scoring position. She reached home on a single into center field on a hit by
Kailey Snell to give the Mocs a 4-0 lead in the first.

Camryn Cernuto led off the fifth with a single and stole second on the next UTC at bat. Two batters later with two on,
Olivia Lipari singled through the right side, scoring Cernuto.

North Alabama spread its hits over four innings and stranded seven runners.

Chattanooga will travel to Jacksonville State for a midweek matchup against the Gamecocks on Wednesday with first pitch at 6:00 p.m. Eastern time.
