CHATTANOOGA (Feb. 20, 2024) – The Chattanooga Mocs men's team capitalized on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon with a dominating ##-## victory over UT Southern outdoors at the UTC Tennis Center on campus.
 
Following the win, Chattanooga improves to 4-6 on the season with six matches left in non-conference play. The NAIA-member UT Southern falls to 0-3 after the defeat in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
 
Chattanooga controlled the entirety of the match beginning with a doubles sweep beginning with a 6-1 win from Jordan McClure and Ethan Carr and a 6-4 win at No. 2 from Jakub Jupa and Kristof Kincses. Peyton Gatti and Jaxon Lamb capped off the clean doubles sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 1.
 
Jupa and Kincses continued their strong play at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, each posting 6-0, 6-0 straight-set shutouts over its opponents to give UTC a 3-0 lead. McClure clinched the match for the Mocs with a 6-1, 6-1 decision in the No. 6 hole.
 
Carr posted a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 before Gatti earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 5 to put the hosts up 6-0 with one match remaining. Jaxon Lamb concluded the team's shutout victory with a hard-fought, 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4.
 
Chattanooga (4-6) returns to action on Saturday with a home match against Presbyterian at 10 a.m. Match coverage links will be available on the schedule page ahead of first service.
