Women’s Tennis Wins Third-Straight, Defeats EKU 6-1 on Sunday

The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team completed a weekend doubleheader sweep with a road win on Sunday.

RICHMOND, Ky. (Feb. 4, 2024) --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team earned its third-straight win after picking up a 6-1 road win at Eastern Kentucky inside the Greg Adams Tennis Center in Richmond, Ky., on Sunday afternoon.
 
Following the win, Chattanooga improves to 4-3 on the season and has won its last three matches by a combined 20-1 tally. EKU evened its record this season to 4-4 after the defeat.
 
"This team played so well together today," said head coach Chad Camper after the victory. "Our doubles were disciplined, and the team just got up big in singles play. Great win today."
 
Chattanooga grabbed a 1-0 lead after a convincing effort in doubles action from the top two tandems. The No. 1 duo of Rozalie Dohnalova and Alice Hall earned a 6-1 win to kick things off before Caroline Gibbens and Emma Peeler posted a 6-2 decision at No. 2 to clinch the team point.
 
The Mocs posted victories in the No. 1 through No. 5 singles positions led by a retirement win at No. 2 from Gibbens and a 6-2, 7-5 win from Dohnalova at the top slot. Hall clinched the match for UTC with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 before Peeler posted a 7-6 (3), 6-4 win at No. 3 and Emma Pedretti claimed a 2-6, 6-3, 10-2 comeback win at No. 5.
 
Chattanooga (4-3) returns to action next weekend with a Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.) home match against UNC Asheville and a Sunday afternoon (2 p.m.) tilt at Lipscomb in Nashville. Match coverage links, if available, will be located on the schedule page.
