GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 2, 2024) --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team kicked off Southern Conference play with a 6-1 road victory over UNCG inside the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win, Chattanooga evens its season record to 6-6 while starting league play at 1-0. UNCG falls to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in SoCon action this season.
 
Chattanooga swept all three doubles matches against the Spartans to begin with a 1-0 lead in the team match score. The No. 1 duo of Rozalie Dohnalova posted a 6-0 shutout before Emma Pedretti and Emma Peeler notched a 6-3 win at No. 3 to claim the point. Caroline Gibbens and Madlena Orlova earned a 7-5 victory to conclude the doubles format.
 
In singles, UNCG tied the match at 1-1 following a victory at the No. 5 slot. From there, it was all UTC as Gibbens notched a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 before a 6-0, 6-2 win from Peeler at No. 4 pushed the team lead to 3-1 with three matches remaining.
 
Dohnalova provided the match-clinching moment at No. 1 singles with a comeback, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over UNCG's Arina Babkova. Orlova added to the team tally with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 before Pedretti closed things out with a 6-7 (3), 6-0, 7-5 win in the No. 6 position.
 
Chattanooga (6-6, 1-0 SoCon) will sit on the victory for two weeks over spring break as the squad returns to action Saturday, March 16, with its home SoCon opener against Wofford. Match coverage information including locations, times and more can all be found on the schedule page at GoMocs.com.
