CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga outdoor track and field team closed out the Lee Flames Fast Break Athletics Invitational Saturday afternoon on the Lee University campus.
"Today The 400 girls started us out on a high note with Ava [McGue] crushing everyone in her heat running a great time with Olivia [Steele] and Hannah [Dearing] both setting PRs," Mocs head coach
Andy Meyer said.
McGue finished 14
th overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.54. Steele ran the distance in a time of 1:07.75 and Dearing finished at 1:10.20.
Sarah Unterholzner was 10
th in the 100 meter hurdles at 16.32. Lexi Foley ran a season-best in the 800 meter with a time of 2:21.37 and
Kennedy Reynolds finished at 2:26.92.
"Sarah did well in her heat of the 100m hurldes, letting up at the end," Meyer said. "In the 800 Kennedy won her heat in a PR. She stayed off the pace for 450m and the took the lead and stretched it out in the homestretch. Very good race for her."
The Mocs closed out the day with the 4x400 meter relay. Steele led off with Dearing and Tyll in the middle legs. Reynolds took care of the anchor led and the Mocs posted a time of 4:45.91.
"We finished the meet with a 4x4 consisting of some of the girls we brought today," Meyer said. "They competed well.
"Overall we had a very good meet. We got several heat wins with both the guys and girls programs. A large majority of the kids that competed ran the best race or races of their season or careers. Coaches Gildea, Gadson and Wilson did a great job of preparing our kids for this meet."
The Mocs have a couple of weeks to gear up for the Georgia Tech Invitational April 19-20 in Atlanta.
