CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs open fall camp Wednesday in advance of the 2024 campaign. It is No. 6 for Coach Rusty Wright at the helm of his alma mater.

The Mocs return 14 starters – seven on both sides of the ball – as well as 27 from the position 2-deep chart. It's a good mix of veterans, transfers and youth to attack a difficult road ahead.

"Talking time's over, and it's time to go to work," Coach Rusty Wright said. "I thought we had a really good spring and summer. I think we're stronger now than we have been.

"We have an opportunity to put a really good football team out there. How far we go, and what we do, will be determined by how committed this team is to each other and doing things right. I know this group is excited to get started and see what we can accomplish."

Chattanooga is No. 10 is the HERO Sports preseason top 25. The squad was picked to win the Southern Conference by the league coaches and senior defensive tackle Marlon Taylor was tabbed as preseason player of the year.

Taylor and junior wideout Javin Whatley continue to collect accolades. Stats Perform announced its preseason All-America squad Monday morning featuring the duo on the second team at their respective position groups. The full list can be found here.

Practice begins Wednesday morning to prepare for a gauntlet to start the season. Tennessee is up first on August 31 followed by a trip to a second FBS opponent, Georgia State. The Mocs return home on Sept. 14 for their SoCon opener against Mercer.
