Soccer Hosts Alabama in Home Opener Sunday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga women's soccer team is headed home and will take on Alabama in the opener Sunday evening at Finley Stadium.
 
CHATTANOOGA vs. ALABAMA
The Tide holds a 7-1-1 advantage against the Mocs. UTC's lone win came in 2004 with UTC's all-time leading scorer Diana Jallo booting home both of the Mocs' goals in a 2-1 victory in Tuscaloosa. In 2019 at the UTC Sports Complex, the Mocs battled Bama to a 1-1 double overtime draw. Samantha Shaw scored a goal in the 78th minute to force overtime despite a 16-4 shots advantage by Alabama. Abbey Saddler had three saves and played all 110 minutes in the net.

In 2022 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., the Tide came away with a 6-0 victory. Caroline Ekern had six saves in the match.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (0-2-1)
The Mocs are 0-2-1 on the season. After starting the year with a 2-2 draw at Georgia State, UTC fell 2-0 at Tennessee and 1-0 at Austin Peay all on the road. Caroline Richvalsky and Clarissa Salinas each scored a goal in the season opener and Caroline Ekern has played every minute in goal with 11 goals and a 1.67 goals against average.
 
ABOUT ALABAMA (2-1)
The Tide opened the season with a 3-0 loss at TCU before rebounding with a 2-1 win over North Texas and a 3-1 victory against North Alabama in the home opener. Alabama is averaging 1.67 goals per game on 49 shots. Nadia Ramadan leads the team with four points on two goals with one game winner. Gianna Paul scored the winner against North Texas. Coralie Lallier has tallied all 270 minutes in the net with 12 saves and a 1.67 goals against average.
 
UP NEXT
The Mocs tough non-conference schedule continues with a home match on Thursday, August 29 against Xavier ranked 19th by the United Soccer Coaches. This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
