Richvalsky's Goal Leads to Mocs Win at Jax State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. --- Chattanooga's Caroline Richvalsky booted home the game winner Sunday night in women's soccer action at Jacksonville State.
 
The Mocs earned their first win of the season, improving to 1-4-1 overall. The Gamecocks fall to 2-3 on the year.
 
Great win against a solid Jacksonville State team," Mocs head coach Gavin McKinney said. "Our mentality was fantastic throughout the match. We feel we have been making steady progress through a tough schedule, and we are happy to get the result tonight."
 
In the 37th minute, Zoey Mize line up a free kick outside the box to the right. She sent in a low shot to the front of the goal and Caroline Richvalsky picked it up and turned on the ball, sending it into the lower left corner to the lone goal of the match.
 
The Gamecocks outshot UTC 14-7, but only managed four shots on goal to the Mocs three. Paige Thomas had three shots to lead UTC. Caroline Ekern tallied four saves and her first win of the season.
 
Chattanooga returns home to host Tennessee Tech this Thursday at Finley Stadium. The game kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Admission is free.
