CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga soccer team fell 1-0 to Samford in Southern Conference action on a hot Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium.
 
The Mocs move to 2-5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play while the Bulldogs improve to 4-6-1 on the year and match Chattanooga 1-1 in the early SoCon standings. The match was the first for UTC at home against a SoCon team.
 
Samford's goal came early in the first half off a corner kick. Whitacker Buchanan's pass was headed into the goal by Ella Simpson for what would prove to be the game winner in the 14^th minute.
 
The Mocs had a few opportunities to score with shots on goal from freshman Paige Thomas and sophomore Carmya Mastrangelo.
 
Each team had seven shots with UTC edging the Bulldogs 5-4 on corner kicks. Caroline Richvalsky led the Mocs with three shots and Caroline Ekern had three saves.
 
Chattanooga will host UNC Greensboro next Sunday, September 29 at Finley Stadium with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.

ALUMNI REUNION
Several former Chattanooga players were able to attend the match for Alumni Reunion Weekend. They were invited to the field at halftime for a special recognition. UTC soccer is in its 29^th season.
