CHATTANOOGA (January 12, 2025) – The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team made a program record 19 three-pointers and saw junior Honor Huff tie a career best with 31 points during a 91-66 rout over Southern Conference foe VMI on Sunday afternoon inside McKenzie Arena.

Chattanooga (10-7, 2-2 SoCon) opened the game with a blistering 10-of-10 start from the field, which included six threes, to help build a quick 26-4 lead over VMI (6-11, 0-4 SoCon) in the first six-plus minutes of the contest. UTC ended the opening half shooting 75.0% (18-of-24 FG, 10-of-13 3PT) to hold its largest halftime lead of the season, 51-22.

Sparked by nine second-half threes, the Mocs continued its lethal shooting attack to help keep a healthy distance from the visiting Keydets despite surrendering a 52.2% (12-23) shooting clip on the defensive end. UTC ultimately ended the contest with 19 made threes to set a program record for threes made against a DI opponent.

Huff tied his career-high with 31 points and became the first Moc to ever make nine threes in a game twice in a UTC career. His nine made triples allowed him to join himself, Stephen McDowell (12/30/08) and Wes Moore (11/15/97) atop the single game program record list for triples made.

POSTGAME QUOTES | MORE
HC Dan Earl's thoughts after 91-66 win over VMI.
"I was proud of the guys. We came out ready to play and it obviously helps when you make shots and can build an early lead. But, I thought we had good energy and moved the ball really well and played with great intent on defense in the first half. We played the game the right way for the most part. Overall, it was a great team win and a great shooting day. It was nice to get back in the win column, but we have a lot of work to do before a really good Wofford team comes on Wednesday."

Honor Huff on tying own and program record with nine threes.
"I'm glad we got the win. My teammates did a really good job of finding me. Even in the timeout huddle they kept giving me confidence to keep shooting it. I thank my teammates and they had just the same part as I did in making shots."
