RECAP: Wrestlers Earn Shutout at Presbyterian

Kamdyn Munro and the Chattanooga Mocs got the 4-match road run off to a strong start Friday night in South Carolina.

Quick Recap: It was a dominant performance. The Mocs claimed the win in the sixth match via a Kamdyn Munro pin at 184. That came two matches after back-to-back tech falls from Noah Castillo (157) and Jackson Hurst (184). Each class saw the Mocs hunting bonus points. First shutout win since Feb. 13, 2022 with a 49-0 win at home against Presbyterian after a 47-0 blanking of VMI earlier that dat.

First Takedown
  • The Mocs scored bonus points in virtually every fashion in a dominating win with four majors, three tech falls, two pins and a forfeit.
  • Match started at 141 where Eli Knight was awarded a forfeit win. Dayne Dalrymple set the tone from the start with a 10-1 major decision with three takedowns and riding time.
  • Noah Castillo (157) and Jackson Hurst (165) methodically built tech falls to follow in the third period of both matchups. The duo combined for 11 takedowns.
  • The scoring alternated from 174-285. Major decisions at 174 and 197 for Sergio Desiante and Logan Webster. In between came first period falls for Kamdyn Munro and Ethan Vergara.
  • Ty Tice had a dominant major at 125 before Blake Boarman closed out a tech fall at 133 that ended in near fall.

  • Second straight win clinched by the seventh match. Saturday it was Desiante's major against VMI. Tonight was Munro's fall in just the sixth matchup.
  • Back-to-back falls for Munro. It's the second time in his career with back-to-back falls in duals with the last coming early in 2023-24 over Hunter Shaut (Buffalo in 4:12) & Aaron Ferguson (Kent St. in 1:52) at 165.
  • Knight has scored 12 dual points in two career matchups with Presbyterian.
  • 27 bonus points scored in the last two matches.
  • Wins for Castillo and Desiante have them one each from 50 and 40 career wins, respectively.
  • 10th career SoCon dual win for Boarman…he's averaging 3.8 points per SoCon dual triumph.
