Soccer Scores Four Second Half Goals for Win Over Mercer

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team exploded for four second-half goals to secure a 4–2 victory over Mercer Thursday evening in Southern Conference action at Finley Stadium. The win improves the Mocs to 8–3–2 overall and 2–1–1 against the league. Mercer moves to 5-5-2 overall and 0-2-2 in the SoCon.
 
After a scoreless first half, Chattanooga found its rhythm in the 55th minute when Caroline Richvalsky netted her seventh goal of the season off an assist from Brenna Swiger. Richvalsky struck again just five minutes later, this time assisted by Quinn Johnson, pushing the Mocs ahead 2–0.
 
Johnson added a goal of her own in the 62nd minute, assisted by Zoey Mize, and Paige Thomas capped the scoring for Chattanooga in the 68th minute with her seventh goal of the season, set up by Emma Reeves.
 
Mercer responded with two late goals to cut the Mocs lead in half, but Chattanooga held off the assault to get the win.
 
The Mocs outshot the Bears 23-6 with an 11-4 shots on goals advantage. Richvalsky had a game-high five shots while Thomas, Johnson and Clarissa Salinas added three each.
 
Senior keeper Caroline Ekern picked up her 31st career win to become the Mocs all-time leader in victories. She has 19 career clean sheets, also a school record.

Caroline Richvalsky led the Mocs with two goals and five shots. She has eight for the year.
Quinn Johnson recorded her first collegiate goal and contributed an assist.
Paige Thomas scored her seventh goal of the season.
