TROY, Ala. --- The Chattanooga women's basketball team showed grit in the opening and closing frames but came up short in a 73–56 loss to Troy Wednesday night at Trojan Arena.
Chattanooga (2–2) came out firing in the first quarter, knocking down four three-pointers and shooting 43.8% from the field to grab a 20–18 lead after 10 minutes. The Mocs' bench contributed nine points in the opening period, and the defense limited Troy to just two points off turnovers.
After a sluggish middle stretch where UTC managed only 12 points combined in the second and third quarters, the Mocs roared back in the fourth. Chattanooga outscored Troy 24–18 in the final frame, fueled by aggressive drives and timely shooting. The Mocs hit 7-of-12 from the floor and went 8-for-9 at the free-throw line in the period, while forcing five turnovers and converting eight points off those miscues.

The Mocs finished with 21 bench points and knocked down seven three-pointers overall. Despite the late surge, Troy's balanced attack and dominance on the glass (45–29 rebounding edge) proved decisive.
