ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The No. 4 seeded Chattanooga Mocs were taken down by the No. 5 seeded UNC Greensboro Spartans in the Quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament in four sets. Each set was tightly contested, as neither side won a set by more than four points (21-25, 21-25, 28-26, 22-25).

Series: Chattanooga drops to 37-25 all-time against Greensboro… The Spartans have won all three meetings during the 2025 season… The Mocs are 1-2 all-time against the Spartans in the Conference Tournament.

Team Notes

Chattanooga brought in a season-high 95 digs in the defeat.
With 14 total blocks, the Mocs had their highest total against SoCon opposition this year.
The Mocs have been knocked out of the SoCon Tournament in the Quarterfinals in consecutive seasons.
Head Coach Julie Torbett Thomas finishes her fourth year as Head Coach, and has produced a winning record in every season.

Player Notes

With her 16^th double-double of the year, Sydney Jackwin led the Mocs with 16 kills and 15 digs.
Jordain Glass tallied 11 kills with a .450 attack percentage.
Caiti Barthel contributed 33 digs to the Mocs' defense, which ties a career high.

Set 1 – UNCG 25, Chattanooga 21

Chattanooga opened with a balanced attack, featuring kills from Glass and Kendyl MacAskill to stay competitive early.
Jackwin's consistent play included multiple kills, keeping the score tight at the midway point.
Ashley Reynolds contributed with key assists, maintaining the Mocs' momentum despite a back-and-forth exchange of points.
UNCG capitalized on two late errors from Chattanooga, closing the set with a 25-21 victory.

Set 2 - UNCG 25, Chattanooga 21

Ashley Reynolds contributed a service ace as the Mocs gained a 4-1 advantage.
UNC Greensboro responded with a series of plays, including three kills from Allie Sweet, to pull ahead 7-4.
A 6-0 run for the Spartans in the middle of the set put them in the driver's seat.
Despite a late push with Gracie Rose recording back-to-back kills, Chattanooga fell short as UNCG secured the set 25-21.

Set 3 – Chattanooga 28, UNCG 26

Gracie Rose struck early with a kill assisted by Reynolds, leveling the score at 1-1.
Jackwin contributed a pair of kills, helping the Mocs maintain a slim lead at 7-5.
Sweet's consistent attacking kept UNCG close throughout the set, tying the set at 21-21.
Chattanooga clinched the set at 28-26, with Jackwin securing the final point after earlier killing off two match points.

Set 4 – UNCG 25, Chattanooga 22

The Mocs started strong with an opening kill by Rose followed by a kill from Glass to go up 2-0.
UNCG surged ahead with a seven-point run, highlighted by blocks from Robin Rosser and kills by Siena Smiejek.
The Mocs fought back, closing the gap to 23-22 with a kill by Kirkendoll and a block from MacAskill.
UNCG clinched the set and the match by scoring the next two points via a kill and a Chattanooga attack error.
