Corbitt Tabbed SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference released the name of its Player of the Week for Women's Basketball with this week's honor going to Chattanooga sophomore forward Gianna Corbitt. Corbitt earns the award after leading the Mocs in scoring in both games in a 1-1 week with a victory over Northern Kentucky. She is the first Moc this season to win this award while it is the second time she has won Player of the Week honors after doing so in February of her rookie season in Chattanooga. 

The Preseason All-Southern Conference player scored 18 points in both of Chattanooga's games. Most notably she made an impressive 76.5% (13-17) of her shot attempts on the week and was 66.7% (4-6) shooting 3-pointers. Additionally, Corbitt was a perfect 100% (6-6) at foul line. Some of Corbitt's other stats for the week include four rebounds per game and two assists per game. Lastly, she also had two steals and two blocks for the week. 

For the season, Corbitt is averaging 12.6 points per game, just behind Caia Elisaldez's 12.7 to lead the team. On the glass, she brings in a team-high 5.3 rebounds per game. For the Southern Conference, she ranks inside the top eight in both scoring and rebounding. 

Corbitt and the rest of the Mocs return to the court on Friday, November 28 against Sacramento State in Riverside, California in their first game of the CBU Classic. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. ET.
