Postgame Quotes vs King - November 3, 2025 - McKenzie Arena

Coach Deandra Schirmer
Opening statement: "I think that this game meant a lot to our team for a number of different reasons. We had two of our family members in the Mocs women's basketball community in Mary Jane Heavener and David Gibbs who passed away before this season. We talked a lot about honoring them in a way that we would be relentless throughout this game, and I feel like our girls really embodied that and were able to focus throughout the 40 minutes, no matter what the score was."

On keys to the game: "We made sure that we kept our pace. We kept our defense. I'm really proud of the fact that we played a complete game, and that's one building block in the process of where we want to get to this season. We're looking forward to working hard to get to that next step as well."

On handling adversity: "We had two of our starters go down when they collided in the first half. I was leaning on Caia with her veteran leadership. I was leaning on G (Gianna Corbitt) with her veteran leadership and Flos. And you know, all of our other returnees...Ava played great minutes. I was relying on them to not miss a beat."

Caia Elisaldez , Jr.-G
On the game as a whole: "I think, for the most part, everyone kept their heads on pretty well today, which was really good. I was proud of everyone. We just had to communicate through a couple of time where we got a little sporadic. It wasn't anything crazy. It was just us talking, and once we were able to talk about it to each other and huddle up, it was gonna get fixed."

Izzy McPherson, R-Fr.-G
On getting back on the floor after an injury shortened year: "I was so excited and maybe a little nervous, but super excited just to get out back there with my girls, especially having Khalifa (Ford) back too. It felt really special today."
