Dan Earl, Head Coach
Opening statement after today's 70-64 loss to Tennessee State.
"Obviously it was a tough day at the office. I thought we didn't match Tennessee State's level of intensity, especially in the first half, for whatever reason. We picked it up in the second half, and we did make it interesting, but you can't dig yourself a hole that big and expect to come out. You have to instill your will on your opponent and I think we were very reactionary to their intensity today. They made some tough shots in the first half, but we needed to have more of an imposing defense and make them play, rather than be so reactionary. So unfortunately, it didn't go away, and we'll all use this as a learning experience. I know the guys will."

On playing with a smaller lineup due to injuries to the bigs.
"We obviously had to play smaller a little bit today, which adjusted things, but we just tried to explain how important it is to just play hard. Digging harder, moving faster, cutting harder, bothering the ball on defense. The guys have to be intelligent in different roles against teams like this who really make it a point to drive the basketball. I thought we did a better job of getting out in transition defensively in the second half, but again, it was just too big of a hole to dig ourselves out of."

Sebastian Hartmann, F-Jr.
On filling the role of the five position.
"At the end of the day, we have guys down. And I tend to think of myself as a physical player, so if I can help with that, that's something I'm going to do at the end of the day. I won't say that it's probably my favorite position, but whatever helps us in the moment, I'm willing to do."
